Jim McCormac worked for the Ohio Department of Natural Resources for 31 years as a botanist, specializing in wildlife diversity projects, especially involving birds. He has authored or coauthored six books, including Birds of Ohio (Lone Pine 2004); and Wild Ohio: The Best of Our Natural Heritage (Kent State University Press 2009). The latter won the 2010 Ohioana Book award. He is a coauthor of the Ohio Breeding Bird Atlas II book. Jim writes a column, Nature, for the Columbus Dispatch, and regularly publishes a natural history blog. He has written numerous articles in a variety of publications and has delivered hundreds of presentations throughout the eastern United States. He was named 2015 Conservation Communicator of the Year by the Ohio League of Sportsmen. Jim is an avid photographer, shooting a range of natural history subjects. He has had hundreds of photos published in various forums. Jim’s conference presentation, A Romp Through Ohio’s Flora and Fauna, will be a pictorial adventure; a wander through Ohio’s varied habitats with visits to flora and fauna great and small.

Danae Wolfe is a digital engagement specialist, photographer, and conservation storyteller. She has over 10 years’ experience designing and facilitating learning opportunities that span natural resources, horticulture, digital engagement, leadership, and her personal passion of photography. In 2018, she was invited to speak at TEDxColumbus on the power of photography in fostering appreciation and conservation of insects and spiders and her talk has since been featured on TED.com. For the conference, Danae will present, Little Creatures, Big Stories, a photographic exploration into the world of insects and spiders that dwell in our gardens.  Love ‘em or hate ‘em, bugs are an integral part of a healthy planet and a healthy garden. Learn about the many benefits of bugs and how you can support these incredible creatures in your home landscape while minimizing damage from pests. As a digital specialist and conservation storyteller, you will find Danae’s presentations lively and amusing.

Jim Chatfield  an Associate Professor and Extension Specialist for The Ohio State University, is an expert in plant diagnostics, plant selection and plant pathology. His vast knowledge is recognized by many which is why he has been asked to teach at numerous venues, is a regular contributor to the American Nurseryman, is editor and co-author for a number of Ohio Nurseryman Landscape Association’s publications, has written over 50 scientific articles for OSU research circulars, has co-authored numerous, additional publications in journals such as Arborist News, Landscape Management Pro, and Fine Gardening and is currently under contract for John Wiley & Sons for a book entitled Landscape Maintenance.  Jim’s wisdom, knowledge and wit will regale you with his presentation of What Gets Us Into Trouble Is Not What We Don’t Know But What We Know For Sure.
